In 2017, Senator Gardner sided with Big Oil and cast one of the swing and decisive votes to mandate destructive oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. What’s more, Gardner continues supporting the Trump administration as it barrels forward with its drilling scheme, silencing scientists, putting polar bears, caribou and other wildlife at risk, and turning a blind eye to the views of the Gwich’in Athabaskan people.
Senator Gardner’s position may help his friends in the oil and gas industry, from which he’s accepted more than $1.5 million in contributions from during his time in Washington, D.C., but it is in direct contradiction to the wishes of 69% of Colorado voters who favor protecting this national treasure for future generations.
